Placements, apprenticeships and volunteering

At Natural Resources Wales, we are committed to the development of a skilled workforce for Wales.
We are developing a range of placement opportunities and we offer opportunities for volunteering.
We will update this page when more details are available.
Foundation placements (apprenticeships)
Our foundation placements will be apprenticeship level roles for school or college leavers aged 16 years and over.
Student placements (sandwich year/industry placements)
These placements will be aimed at students who are studying for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
Graduate placements
Our graduate placements will be for people who have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
We intend to pilot a graduate scheme in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Volunteering opportunities
Our current opportunities for volunteers are listed below:
- Our South West Land Management Team has opportunities on the Gower Volunteer scheme.
- Natural Resources Wales and the West Wales Rivers Trust are partners on the Balsam Eradication Project. The project aims to control the impact of invasive non-native species on three rivers in West Wales. For more information about volunteering opportunities go to the West Wales Rivers Trust.
Education resources
We do not have a student work experience scheme or offer placements for youth and school groups.
We have a range of education resources for education providers and group leaders.
