NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership have applied for a new bespoke radioactive substances regulation (RSR) permit for the use of open source radioactive substances for the manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals for use at NHS hospitals. There would also be accumulation and disposal waste consisting of waste vials and contaminated personal protective equipment.

The application contains a description of the proposed activity; the materials and substances it will use and generate; the conditions of its site; the source, nature and quantity of its foreseeable emissions and their potential impact, the proposed techniques for preventing, reducing, and monitoring its emissions and preventing and recovering waste; and an outline of the main alternatives, if any, considered.
